Mrs. April Richards set up various Biology stations for her class that allowed students to begin thinking about skills and knowledge that will be used in Biology while getting to know their classmates. Each station required students to engage with a science-related task and to discuss a question with their group members. Students were given the goal of meeting as many of their classmates as possible by changing their group members each time they rotated to a new station. Tasks included making observations, creating a classification system based on common characteristics, exploring homologous structures and relatedness of organisms, practicing math that will be used in biology, decoding words based on root words, identifying potential dangers in the lab and creating rules/procedures to prevent issues, and completing a Claim Evidence Reasoning writing task. Station 1: Microscopes (Use a microscope, guess what is on the slide, label parts of the microscope using test taking skill of completing what you know first.) Station 2: Classification (Classify objects into groups based on common characteristics.) Station 3: Experiment Design and Data Analysis (Identify components of experiments and draw conclusions based on data shown in graph.) Station 4: Making Observations (Compare and contrast two different plant species.) Station 5: Lab Safety (Identify a potential danger and develop a rule/procedure to prevent issues.) Station 6: CER Writing + Identifying sources of bias or error (Which phone/phone operating system is best?) Station 7: Math in Biology (Practice math skills that will be used in biology) Station 8: Root words in biology (Decode words using root words/prefix/suffix.) Station 9: Is it an animal? (Discuss what makes something an animal and determine whether each organism is classified as an animal or not.) Station 10: Al-ARM-in Similarities (Match the forelimb bones to the correct organism based on prior knowledge of the organisms structures and their structural needs based on their environment; identify species that are likely more closely related based on homologous structures and more similarities.) Station 11: Electron microscopy (Discuss electron images with group members and record possible identification of each image.) #4theT #LetsGrowTogether #EngagingLesson

Dr. Renee Hughes' students dove deep into Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, creating incredible character maps to bring the quirky and unique personalities of the book's characters to life! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️ Each map explored traits, motives, and connections—helping students better understand the complexities of the story and its peculiar cast. 🤯📖 It’s amazing to see how our classes are engaging with the text in such a creative way! 🧩💡 #MissPeregrinesHome #LiteratureLove #CharacterMapping #BookStudy #StudentCreativity #PeculiarChildren #ClassroomAdventures

Our Food Science students in Mrs. Hannah Ridgeway's class put their culinary skills to the test in a fun, sweet competition! 🧁✨ From vibrant frosting techniques to creative flavor combinations, everyone brought their A-game. 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 The results? Deliciously impressive! 🤩 It's amazing to see how our future food scientists are blending their creativity with their scientific knowledge to create edible masterpieces. 🧑‍🔬🔬 The overall winners of the competition, with both flavor and creativity, went to Belle's Royal Bakehouse with a Ferrero Rocher-inspired cupcake. These cupcakes were chocolate-filled with a hazelnut filling, light chocolate moose icing, and bits of Ferrero Rocher chocolates on top. The students even created a rose topper from the gold wrapper to represent Belle's rose! #CupcakeWars #FoodScienceFun #BakingCreativity #FutureFoodScientists #ClassroomCompetition #SweetSuccess #4theT #LetsGrowTogether

Tift Co High School participated in a "Who Am I" student engagement activity. Staff submitted their senior pictures or a picture from their high school years and students had to identify the staff person by their picture. We had 83 staff and 130 students to participate. Although it was a student engagement activity, the staff had as much fun as the students identifying each other. Congratulations to our winner, Addilyn Pate for guessing the most staff correctly. She was able to correctly identify 37 of the 83 staff. The most recognizable staff members were Coach Javier Clark, Mrs. Jessica Rentz, and Mrs. Kaycee Aultman. We will do another student engagement activity after Christmas break. This activity will be "Name That Senior". Seniors have already begun submitting their baby pictures and students and staff will be charged with correctly identifying the senior from their baby picture. LET THE FUN BEGIN! #4theT #LetsGrowTogether
