➕ Integer Review, but Make It Fun! 🎲 Quiz review looked a little different in Mrs. York’s math classes today! Instead of a traditional review worksheet, students put their integer skills to the test through some friendly competition. 🏆 Students rotated through Integer War, Integer Headbands, Would You Rather?, and Boddle while practicing identifying, comparing, and ordering integers and working with absolute value. Learning + teamwork + a little competition = a great way to review! 💙➕📚 #NEMS #MathIsFun #IntegerSkills #LearningInAction #BlueDevils

🚨DISMISSAL UPDATE 🚨

NEMS family,

We have a larger number of students who are car riders this school year. We have had some very close calls regarding student safety, including students running out into the back parking lot and parents going around cars that are waiting for their students.

We are implementing new procedures for afternoon dismissal. The large parking lot in the back will be blocked off to everyone, and students will not be allowed to walk across that area in the afternoons. We will rely on the two lanes closest to the building and two lines in the next parking area.

The road by the softball field will be one-way for parents to exit. We ask that you do not go around cars waiting for their students, as this puts students walking to their cars in danger. We will have increased staff presence to help move traffic efficiently.

Parking for softball, those waiting for 6th grade football, and cross country will now be in the grass area behind the softball field. Please use the gate between the baseball and softball fields to access this area.

Please bear with us and bring your patience as we redesign dismissal with your child’s safety at the heart of this decision. Thank you for your understanding.

Marshmallow Challenge: Building More Than Towers! 🏗️✨ Ms. Thompson’s 6th grade students kicked off Unit 1, “The Challenges and Triumphs of Growing Up,” with a fun and engaging marshmallow tower challenge! Working together, students used teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills to build the tallest towers they could. After the activity, they reflected on the challenges they faced, the triumphs they celebrated, and how those experiences connect to the theme of growing up. What a great way to start the year by learning that growth often comes through perseverance, collaboration, and resilience! #NEMSBlueDevils #LearningInAction #GrowingUp #6thGrade #Teamwork #FutureReady

Today in Mrs. Gann's CTAE Business Class, our students took on a challenge that had nothing to do with computers or textbooks—but everything to do with business success! 🧩💼 Students worked in teams to complete a puzzle without the picture on the box to guide them. During the first 10 minutes, they were able to communicate freely as they developed a strategy, assigned roles, and solved problems together. For the final 10 minutes, the challenge became even harder—they had to work without speaking, relying only on nonverbal communication, observation, and teamwork to finish the puzzle. In business, success isn't just about having the right answer—it's about working effectively with others, thinking creatively, and communicating, even when challenges arise. We are proud of how our students stepped up, encouraged one another, and learned that every team member plays an important role!
