Title I is a federally funded educational grant that provides supplemental funds to school districts to assist schools. It allows us to provide a higher quality education for every student. Title I encourages parents to be involved in their child's education. Title I schools, in collaboration with parents, develop and distribute to parent/guardians a written Parent Involvement Policy/Plan. The Parent Involvement Policy/Plan describes how the school will carry out the parent involvement requirements including the development of a School-Parent Compact.
The NEC Student Council met on November 18th as part of the NEC Title I Advisory Board. Students learned about Title I, how we qualify for Title I, and the benefits of being a Title I school. The Student Council reviewed the current Parent Involvement Plan and Compact. Students actively made improvements to the current plan and offered interesting ideas to add to the current plan/compact. Student Council Members for the 2014-2015 school year are Katie Kemeness, Marissa Timafook, Ashlee Golden, Anna Bowen, Rachel Sattler, Jordyn Dove, Lehi Larger, and Will Rowland. The NEC Parent Involvement Plan and Compact are posted on our website and Facebook.
